The North Carolina State University Residence Life Committee Records are dated from 1972 to 1979. The records are comprised of minutes and meeting notes regarding residence life, housing, funding for cultural and educational programs, tutoring programs, studying abroad programs and scholarships. The North Carolina State University Residence Life Committee was established in 1972. The first meeting was held October 19, 1972, at 8:00 p.m. in the Bowen Hall Lounge. The committee members consisted of students, faculty and the University's Director of Residence Life. The Committee was appointed by Chancellor John T. Caldwell. The Office of Residence Life has the responsibility for programming, staff selection, staff supervision, and staff training in the residence halls. The purpose of the University Residence Life Committee is to advise the Office of Residence Life by: (1) evaluating present policies and programs, (2) reviewing changes in policies and programs as recommended by Residence Life staff members, Inter-Residence Council and other members of the university community: and (3) proposing new directions for the Office of Residence Life.
